My Linny Binny by Pam (Lindsey's Mom)

Don't ask me why, it's just an affectionate name among the many. As her mom, I can agree with all that's been said and more. She was exceptional--she would say something and end the sentence with " right?"(accented just so). I loved that little expression and find myself saying sometimes and stopping to reflect just how she sounded when she said it. I hope I never forget that among the millions of things imprinted in my heart and mind. She had too many special qualities to list so let me tell a couple of her unforgettable responses through the years.

She asked when she was about 6 yrs old out of the clear blue

"what is an anteater."

I responded we had been to the zoo and didn't she remember they had a long snout?

She asked "is that what they eat?"

I said primarily.

She began to cry these big alligator tears and said "like aunt Martha?" it was really hard to keep a straight face in explaining no,no,no, not that kind of aunt.

She walked in from playing one day close to the same age and said

"where's Ty?" (her brother)

in which I replied "out shooting baskets",

she said " with a gun?" so spontaneously that I didn't catch what she was saying at first.

Well, there are endless Lindsey stories but my favorite is the picture she brought home in first grade. It was of a girl's face with long flipped up hair and underneath it said "Lindsey". When I asked her about it she said they asked them to draw a picture of what they wanted to be when they grew up. She couldn't understand why everyone was drawing firemen, doctors, policemen, she wanted to be Lindsey when she grew up and that just about sums it up.

Her dad and I loved her more than we can possibly say in words and our lives are changed forever without her. We know we have an angel watching over us and will see her again.

I always said when my kids left the house "remember who you are" they thought that was so weird, I guess I do too now!
